Setup

Use the Discord integration when you want form submission notifications in a Discord channel.

  1. Open Integrations in the dashboard.
  2. Find Discord in Available.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. Approve the Rooster Discord app and add the bot to the Discord server that should receive submissions.
  5. Rooster redirects you back to Integrations.
  6. Open Manage if it is not already open.
  7. Choose the Discord server and channel.
  8. Click Save destination.
  9. Send a test message from the Discord settings dialog.

After Discord is connected, it appears in your account's connected integrations, but it only receives submissions from websites or hosted forms where you link it.

Link Discord To A Website Or Hosted Form

To send website submissions to Discord:

  1. Open Websites.
  2. Open the website action menu.
  3. Choose Link integration or View integration.
  4. Click Add integration if you are viewing existing links.
  5. Choose Discord from the dropdown.
  6. Review the Discord settings for that website, including submission details, hidden fields, and allowlisted fields.
  7. Click Link integration.

The website must have a valid connected domain before Discord can be linked.

To send hosted form submissions to Discord:

  1. Open Form builder.
  2. Open the hosted form action menu.
  3. Choose Link integration or View integration.
  4. Click Add integration if you are viewing existing links.
  5. Choose Discord from the dropdown.
  6. Review the Discord settings for that hosted form, including submission details, hidden fields, and allowlisted fields.
  7. Click Link integration.

The hosted form must be published before Discord can be linked.

Manage Or Remove Discord

Open Integrations, then click Manage Discord to review delivery health, choose or change the Discord server and channel, edit account-level message settings, send a test message, disable delivery, reconnect Discord, or disconnect Discord from your account.

From a website or hosted form's View integration modal, use the edit icon to change Discord settings only for that source. Use the delete icon to remove Discord from that source only.

Message Content

Discord messages are sent after a submission has been saved. A Discord delivery failure does not block the visitor's form submission.

When Show submission details in Discord is off, messages include safe metadata only:

  • Form name
  • Website name
  • Source page
  • Submitted time
  • A dashboard link when available

When it is on, Rooster adds submitted field values dynamically. Long values are truncated, arrays and nested values are summarized, ignored file fields are represented as file counts or names, and very large submissions are shortened with a note to view the full submission in Rooster.

Privacy Controls

Discord settings support optional privacy controls:

  • Hide fields by key or label prevents fields such as password, token, secret, or ssn from appearing in Discord. Common sensitive field names are hidden by default.
  • Allow only these fields creates an allowlist. When configured, Discord only displays matching field keys or labels, then still applies hidden-field rules.
  • Discord messages do not use user mentions from submitted data. Rooster sends messages with mention parsing disabled.

Health And Retries

Rooster records Discord delivery attempts, response status codes, response time, short response previews, and failure reasons. Retryable failures are scheduled again with backoff. Repeated failures mark Discord unhealthy and can disable delivery until the destination is fixed or a successful test confirms the connection is working again.

If Discord reports that the bot was removed, the server is unavailable, the channel is unavailable, or Rooster no longer has permission to post, Rooster stops using that destination and shows a dashboard warning.

Compatible Destinations

The Discord integration works with:

  • Discord servers where the Rooster bot is installed
  • Text channels visible to the Rooster bot
  • Announcement channels visible to the Rooster bot
  • Shared operational channels for support, sales, lead intake, or incident triage
